Banks And Business Have Common Interests
I take exception to Lester Thurow's attempt to drive a wedge between the industrial and financial sectors (Economic Issues, April): Inflation eats into the financial sector's margins as much as the industrial's margins.
The financial community's principal assets are its loans to its customers. Any deterioration in its customers' financial condition weakens its primary asset. Both are committed to the same interest: controlling inflation and increasing productivity in a free market-place.
