Howdy Duty
If you're a manufacturer who exports, you may be missing out on money that can be refunded to you as part of U.S. Customs Service's duty drawback program. Duty drawback permits a 99% duty refund on imported materials used to manufacture products that are later exported. It also allows refunds on imported materials for domestic products if the manufacturer uses similar domestic materials to manufacture exports.
According to Purchasing magazine, only one in five eligible companies takes advantage of the drawback program.
