Flighty Advice?
Mr. William Ringler, through his experience in traveling in light aircraft, has found the convenience and versatility of this method of travel.
I would hope that Mr. Ringler and others considering using private pilots, flying clubs, and their aircraft for this travel would investigate the difference between them and the commercial air carrier or air taxi operator. To be licensed as an air carrier or air taxi, a company must meet very stringent FAA regulations. They are required to have an operating manual. The pilot must be either commercial or airline transport -- rated, with an instrument rating, and must undergo periodic FAA flight checks. The aircraft are monitored more closely than for private purposes. Also, the rules that the commercial operators fly under are a lot stricter than those for private purposes.
