Chili To Go
Cincinnati is famous for The Procter & Gamble Co, the baseball Reds, and unforgettable chili. P&G has been a national marketer for a century or so; the Reds, who are in the National League, make periodic forays around the country; and now, Skyline Chili, one of the Queen City's favorite brands is getting ready to go national.
Skyline Food Products Co. currently franchises some 34 "chili parlors," dishing out its spicy victuals mainly in southern Ohio. But the family-owned company is girding for a push to bring its piquant provender to the public at large. "We are in the process of forming a corporate structure, which is nothing like a family business," explains Lambert Lambrinides, president of Skyline Food Products. "Fortunately, we have gotten this far very successfully as a family."
Lambrinides said the family is still formalizing the plans for its gastronomical gambit, but the first parlors in its national rollout are scheduled to open by year's end in Indianapolis and northern Kentucky.
