Congratulations on Curtis Hartman's article about Herbalife International ("Unbridled Growth," December 1985). Unfortunately, despite the current focus on spiraling health-care costs, too little attention has been paid to the growing problem of health fraud.
Nutrition, a prime target for misinformation, is not a game, but a complex biological science.Quick-fix weight-loss remedies not only rob pocketbooks, but health as well. In some instances, they may prove fatal.The American Dietetic Association suggests that consumers be their own watchdogs by seeking guidance from degree-holding professionals in the science of nutrition, dietetics, or other related disciplines.
