Better Still

My wife and I found your article both interesting and disturbing. Interesting because we own a small insurance business and have two children, both daughters. Disturbing because it failed to mention black-owned businesses, even given a perfect opportunity to do so.

Linda Johnson Rice, who was vice-president and assistant to her father, John Johnson, was recently named president and chief operating officer of Chicago-based Johnson Publishing Co., the largest black business in the United States, according to Black Enterprise magazine. While we are subscribers to both INC. and Jet/Ebony, we do not subscribe to the separate but equal theory. Your article is important because it shows that daddy's little girl can be the better choice. The problem is that it chose not to include blacks and other minorities.

EDITOR-NOTE:

In our September issue, you may recall, we published a correction about a previous INC. column entitled "The Trouble with S Corporations," whose author, Douglas H. Forde, turned out to be a convicted felon serving a prison term for grand larceny. As chagrined as we were to discover Mr. Forde's current status and whereabouts, we were delighted by our readers' responses to our correction. Here are some of their comments. -- The Editors
