New business information on residential electric meters.

Just as telephones have peak and off-peak rates, so too will most residential electric meters by the mid-1990s, according to Domestic Automation Co., in Foster City, Calif. Utilities save money when customers shift usage to evenings, but time-of-use devices have been prohibitively expensive until now. With funding from the VC arm of Arizona Public Service, DAC registers are being used in northern California and being introduced in 60 other locations.
