Company develops a telemonitor for at-home health care.

 

With hospitals discharging patients earlier, home health care has blossomed into a billion-dollar industry. That gave McKinsey & Co. alumnus Thomas Manning the idea for a business in telemonitoring, which lets people read their vital signs at home and send data by phone to physicians. Buddy Systems Inc., in Northbrook, Ill., is now marketing its at-home terminal to national health-care companies.
