A women's organization unveils its Brass Ovaries award for successful franchise operators.

You know what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur these days: steel nerves, thick skin, and a pair of brass . . . ovaries? Well, yes, according to Women in Franchising Inc., which recently unveiled its Brass Ovaries award. Says Susan Kezios, president of the Chicago-based association, "there's an element of risk when you go into any business venture, franchise or nonfranchise. And the women who take that risk don't have exactly what the men have." The group's slogan: "It takes ovaries."
