According to a survey of small-business CEOs by Arthur Andersen & Co., the number-one impediment to exporting is lack of information. But don't try to use that excuse when it comes to the Canadian marketplace. An on-line database called BOSS (Business Opportunities Sourcing System) can put you in touch with more than 20,000 companies in Canada. It's brought to you free, courtesy of the Canadian Department of Regional & Industrial Expansion.

You can target your market by product, province/city, and size of company, then (if your computer has the capacity) download the information onto mailing labels. The package includes a statistical service on the Canadian economy, as well as a series of hard-copy directories.
