Connected Executives, by Bernard DeKoven, is not a new book, but it was new to me. On one level, it is about using computers and other forms of technology to increase the efficiency of meetings (for example, by letting everyone review the minutes as they are being taken). Perhaps inadvertently, the book also raises a simple but excellent question: given all the time people spend in meetings, why does so little of consequence happen as a result of them? If nothing else, this book will force you to remind yourself why you and your colleagues are hanging around the conference room in the first place.
