Another piece of the capital-raising process is moving into cyberspace: the road show. Bb-NET Investor Relations, a start-up based in Silver Spring, Md., says the CEO's chore of drumming up interest in new stock issues--which typically involves a costly road show--could be done more efficiently on the World Wide Web. For a starting price of $1,290, Bb-NET will create a "virtual road show" that uses video, slides, and audio narration to walk potential investors through the issuing company's vitals. The big gamble? Whether Bb-NET can attract enough serious potential investors to its site to keep it from becoming nothing more than a virtual detour.
