For the past six years, Inc. and the Initiative for a Competive Inner City (ICIC) have teamed up to recognize America's fastest growing urban businesses through the annual Inner City 100 list. This year, Inc.com receives a special sneak preview of some of the 2004 winners during the Inner City 100 Countdown. Starting on March 17 and running through April 13, when the winners will be announced at the Inner City 100 awards dinnner, a new winning company is profiled each day on Inc.com.

Since the early days, CEO Brett Hatton has factored his accounts receivable rather than writing off bad debt, and has kept the business open book, so that employees could keep a lid on expenses.
