Business Travelers Forced to Shack Up
A survey finds more road warriors are sharing rooms with their colleagues on business trips.
As travel costs continue to rise, many business travelers are being forced to double up on hotel accomodations to reduce expenses.
In a recent survey by Orbitz for Business, about a quarter of respondents said they've had to share a room with a colleague on a business trip.
Yet, when it comes to selecting a hotel, 62 percent said they choose accommodations that suit their needs, regardless of price. Only 12 percent said they pick less expensive hotels in order to save money.
Whatever the circumstances, business travel has its advantages, respondents said. Sixty-two percent of those surveyed said having the chance to visit different parts of the world was the biggest benefit of business travel. Another 19 percent said traveling on business boosted their frequent flier miles and loyalty points, the survey found.
