Linksys Launches Monitoring Camera
The Wireless-G Internet Home Monitoring Camera with Audio is designed for small offices.
Linksys, a division of Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO), has unveiled the latest addition to its Home Control family of products, the Wireless-G Internet Home Monitoring Camera with Audio or WVC54GCA, designed and priced for home and small office use.
The WVC54GCA contains its own Web server, unlike standard Web cams that require an attachment to a PC, so it can connect to a network either wirelessly or by Ethernet cable. It offers up to 640x480 pixel video and high quality audio streams over the Internet, connects up to four users simultaneously and features its own microphone.
With Security Mode, the camera automatically sends a message with a short video to up to three e-mail addresses when it detects motion. Users can then log onto the live video stream and record the stream to the local hard drive. The WVC54GCA is priced at $120.
