Job Seekers Look Beyond Wages
A recent survey finds flex hours and other perks have a big impact on recruiting.
More job seekers are looking beyond wages to flexible work schedules and extra vacation days in sizing up employment offers, a recent survey shows.
While wages are still a priority, a growing number of job candidates say a comprehensive benefits package has a greater influence on their employment decisions, according to a survey of more than 1,400 CFOs by Robert Half International, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based staffing firm.
Telecommunicating and flexible work days ranked third among top job incentives, followed by signing bonuses and extra vacation days, the survey found.
"Companies that do not provide comprehensive employment packages, including competitive compensation and insurance programs, risk losing top job candidates to other opportunities," Max Messmer, the firm's CEO, said in a statement.
Correction: An earlier version of this story mistated the order of the rankings for job incentives.
