IBM Tests Data Privacy Solution
The new solution offers data masking techniques.
IBM (NYSE:IBM) has begun open client and partner testing of its new Optim Data Privacy Solution for use with SAP (NYSE:SAP) solutions. The joint solution provides advanced enterprise data management and privacy capabilities in support of SAP applications.
The new solution offers data masking techniques to protect privacy in development, testing and training environments across a variety of SAP applications. It delivers application-specific templates that enable customer sites to begin with the most common attributes and customize as needed. Names, addresses, national identification numbers, payment card and e-mail addresses can be masked with fictitious but contextually accurate substitute data.
"Today, it is imperative that companies implement comprehensive data protection strategies across their enterprise IT environments, with protecting data privacy as one of the key components," Jim Lee, director of Optim Product Line Management for IBM, said in a statement.
