Tech Data Introduces Mobile Virtualization Labs

The labs demonstrate how virtualization can enhance IT operations.

 

The Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) division of Tech Data (NASDAQ:TECD) has unveiled two mobile virtualization labs to help value-added resellers offer server and desktop virtualization solutions. The labs, 25U racks configured with IBM (NYSE:IBM) and HP (NYSE:HPQ) servers and storage running virtualization solutions from vendors like VMware (NYSE:VMW), are available to partners and end-users ready to deploy.

The labs demonstrate how virtualization can enhance IT operations by eliminating under-utilized hardware through server consolidation, provisioning systems for business continuity, workload management and live migration of active applications between virtual servers. They also show how VMware's Virtual Desktop Infrastructure can ease desktop management by enabling client systems to access all software applications from a central server.

"With the AIS virtualization labs, VARs can take the data center on the road for hands-on demonstrations of how server and desktop virtualization can save their customers time and money," director of product marketing for AIS, Amy Belcher, said in a statement.
