BakBone Releases Data Protection Solution

The new tool combines open-source economics with enterprise-class functionality.

 

BakBone Software has unveiled NetVault Backup Free Use Edition for small midsize businesses. Developed for Enterprise Linux, this new data protection solution combines open source economics with enterprise-class functionality and scalability. Red Hat (NYSE:RHT) (NYSE:RHT) has added the new solution to its Global Compatible Software Catalog.

BakBone is also offering Red Hat customers NetVault Backup SMB Edition and Enterprise Edition. These cost-effective free-use Linux-based data protection solutions feature built-in virtual tape library support.

"The antiquated approaches utilized by the vast majority of proprietary software vendors simply do not provide the compelling value proposition desired by Red Hat customers worldwide," David Schneider, vice president of BakBone's strategic partners group, said in a statement. "Delivering a free-use version of our award-winning NetVault Backup solution offers Red Hat Enterprise Linux customers the vehicle to leverage true enterprise-class functionality with the economics of open source."
