Computer Use Low at Small Businesses in Asia
Nov. 13, 2006 -- Three quarters of small businesses in Asia's most populous markets operate without the use of computers, according to a study released today by Access Markets International, a New York-based market research firm.
The study, which gauged PC use among businesses with fewer than 100 employees in India, China, Indonesia, and the Philippines, found that up to 40 percent of small-business owners surveyed in these regions said they are considering buying computers within the next 12 months.
The reasons they cited included a need to automate business processes, improve efficiency and productivity, and keep pace with competition, the study found.
