Economist Milton Friedman Dies
Nov. 16, 2006 -- Milton Friedman, a champion of free enterprise who won a Nobel Prize in 1976, died of heart failure today at a hospital in San Francisco. He was 94.
A free market economist who became a household name for his influence on U.S. economic policy, Friedman was a strong critic of heavy-handed government regulations on business.
In the 1980s, his ideas guided the monetary policies of such global leaders as Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher.
