Study Finds Small Firms Drive Growth
Dec. 13, 2006 -- Urban economic centers rely more on small businesses for growth than older business districts, according to a report issued Wednesday by the Office of Advocacy of the Small Business Administration.
The study, which examined 63,000 firms in the Houston metropolitan region, found that large firms are more likely than smaller firms to locate within the central business district, while newer employment sub-centers tend to be populated by both small and large firms.
The study also found that in emerging districts, small businesses are able to compete effectively with larger firms.
