Inc. 500 Company Files Countersuit Against Patriots
Dec. 22, 2006 -- StubHub, a San Francisco-based ticket reseller and a current Inc. 500 company, filed a lawsuit against the New England Patriots, accusing the NFL team of violating the Massachusetts antiscalping law.
The countersuit comes about one month after the Patriots sued StubHub for providing a forum for fans to resell Patriots tickets for a profit. The Patriots prohibit ticket resale outside of the club's own TeamExchange website.
StubHub claims TeamExchange violates the antiscalping law, which prohibits resales more than $2 above face value, because it charges ticket buyers fees equal to 10 percent of the ticket price.
In 2006, StubHub ranked eighth in the Inc. 500 list of America's fastest-growing private companies.
