Regional Entrepreneurship Center Awarded Grant

March 2, 3007 -- The Department of Labor awarded $3.3 million to the Denver-based National Business Information Clearinghouse to help minority entrepreneurs start and maintain small businesses, the NBIC announced this week.

The grant will go toward providing Web-based resources, technical assistance, and training to entrepreneurs in regional economies across the country, the organization said.

The NBIC will also work with partners, including Western Union and local faith-based and community groups, to provide entrepreneurial services to low-wage and displaced workers, it said.

"With this project, NBIC will service as a crucial resource for entrepreneurs aiming to create, sustain and grow small businesses along with their regional economies," Emily Stover DeRocco, assistant secretary of labor for employment and training, said in a statement.
