Spending on Business-Intelligence Tools Rising
March 27, 2007 -- Businesses across North American are expected to spend as much as $23.8 billion on business intelligence and performance management this year, an increase of 9 percent from 2006, according to a report released Tuesday by AMR Research.
Among all expenditures, employers will spend the most on business intelligence tools, hitting $6.6 billion in 2007, followed by dashboards, scorecards, and other applications that help businesses track key performance indicators, the report said.
By contrast, many businesses are planning to spend less on external services, the report said.
While overall spending on business intelligence and performance management tools is strong, 18 percent of the companies surveyed in the report cited a lack of these resources as a major challenge in expanding their business, the report said.
