Study: Students Hail Minority Business Profs

April 3, 2007 -- Minority business professors have a positive impact the career decisions of both undergraduate and graduate students at U.S. colleges and universities, a new study shows.

In a survey of 679 students nationwide, 83 percent said minority professors were positively impacting their employment and internship decisions, while 76 percent said they feel better prepared to work in a diverse business environment as a result of having a minority professor, according to the Bernard Hodes Group, a New York-based recruiting firm.

The survey was part of the PhD Project, an academic-led initiative launched in 1994 to boost minority representation among business professors. Since then, the number of minority business professors has increased from 294 to 842, researchers said.
