Study: Corporate Social Responsibility Growing
April 11, 2007 -- Four out of five businesses worldwide incorporate some form of corporate social responsibility policies in their business activities -- from donating to local charities to monitoring labor standards, the Society for Human Resource Management reported Tuesday.
In a wide-ranging survey of human-resources managers across several nations, 91 percent of businesses polled in the United States said they participated in corporate social responsibility practices, the Alexandria, Va.-based trade group reported. "Organizations are increasingly assessing the social and environmental impact of their business decisions," Susan Meisinger, the group's president, said in a statement.
Meisinger cited globalization as a driver behind the growth in corporate social responsibility.
