Business Plan Finalists Named

Pitches to offer cell-based transplants for stroke patients and a device for sending hand-written e-mails were among the top 10 finalists named in this year's Silicon Valley Boomer Business Plan Competition, organizers announced this week.

The competition, which is co-produced by Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business and Mary Furlong & Associates, invited entrepreneurs, start-ups and university students to submit their plans for products and services that aid aging baby boomers. This year's finalists, picked from among over 60 entries from around the globe, represent diverse industries, from medicine and technology to fashion and romance.

Two $10,000 grand prize winners will be announced at the Silicon Valley Boomer Venture Summit on June 19.
