Best Small Employers Named

 

A mining company, a financial services firm, and a business consulting group were among top employers named this week in Principal Financial Group's 10 Best Companies for Employee Financial Security.

Badger Mining of Berlin, Wisc., National Futures Association of Chicago, and Business Roundtable of Washington D.C., were among the businesses singled out for providing outstanding benefits for their employees.

This year's winners highlighted several job-retention trends driven by the nation's tighter labor market, including employee wellness programs, one-on-one benefit guidance, and "auto pilot" retirement savings plans, organizers said.

"These companies face the same challenges as any other business today -- skyrocketing health-care costs, stiff competition for recruiting the best employees, and the ever-present pressure to do more with fewer resources," Principal vice president Renee Schaaf said in a statement. "But through wise investments in employee benefits they've faced those challenges."
