Linksys Launches New Smart Switches

 

Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO), has unveiled eight new smart switches specifically designed for small office and home office use.

The Linksys Business Series Smart Ethernet Switches provide simple Web management of network traffic, network security, and easy installation for businesses that do not have dedicated IT departments.

The eight new switches, priced from $199.99 to $514.99, feature Internet Group Management Protocol snooping, limiting multicast network traffic to those who have requested receipt of the transmission. They also feature cable analysis to quickly identify and isolate cable problems, and rate limiting, which controls the amount of traffic allowed to pass through a port. The switches also allow for monitoring from a remote location.
