3Com Targets SMBs With New VCX Offering
3Com (NASDAQ:COMS) has launched a new IP telephony solution targeted at small and midsize businesses. The new VCX Platform, including VCX Connect 100 and VCX Connect 200, will deliver scalable SIP-based IP telephony call control and unified messaging applications in a single-server package to companies with 25 to 200 phone users.
The VCX Connect Solutions, available from $7,000, will allow users to access telephony applications remotely without dialing in to a company server, self-administrate via the Web, use IP conferencing and remote collaboration tools, and call from multimedia devices.
3Com, which has recently been acquired by Bain Capital and Huawei, has also unveiled a solution based on Digium's Asterisk Business Edition Open Source VoIP PBX, intended for up to 30 phone users. Available from $1,595, it offers a small-footprint, open source VoIP system for a single site.
