Microsoft Launches New Live Services
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has announced the expansion of its portfolio of software plus service solutions, a series of integrated software and Internet services.
In particular, Microsoft has unveiled Office Live Workspace, a new Web-based feature of Microsoft Office that allows users to access and share documents. The new functionality, free of charge, enables users to connect to Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook on their PC via the Web.
Microsoft has also announced a new customer relationship management (CRM) software-as-a-service option. Dynamics CRM Live will offer the same multi-tenant code base for customizable deployment as the on-premise Dynamics CRM as an on-demand service.
More than 100 companies are now using Dynamics CRM Live, launched a few weeks ago, which offers a better user experience centered on Office and Outlook, a lower total cost of ownership, and the option to switch between on-demand and on-premise models as business needs change.
Microsoft has also renamed its Office Live hosted small-business service, which brings enterprise-strength productivity and efficiency capabilities to small businesses without the IT management overhead, to Microsoft Office Live Small Business.
