Alcatel-Lucent Launches Scalable Multi-Service Communications System for Mid-market

Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU) has introduced a new multi-service communications system aimed at midsize businesses in Europe. The Business integrated Communication Solution (BiCS) will be available for American companies with 100-500 employees next year.

The all-in-one BiCS package includes OmniPCX Enterprise IP telephony, OmniTouch Contact Center, My Instant Communicator Unified Communications, XML APIs for simplified third-party application integration, OmniVista 4760 management, and high reliability hard disk mirroring.

The scalable BiCS can be deployed in a flexible manner on a "pay as you grow" basis. Customers can test-drive more advanced applications before purchasing them, including a comprehensive set of integration tools, a single wizard installation too, and a virtualization layer that allows all applications to share the same hardware server.
