The latest generation of color laser printers, such as Konica Minolta's magicolor 2530 DL, combine low cost of use, versatility, and ultra-high quality reproduction. The 2530 DL ($399) features fast Ethernet and USB 2.0 connectivity, and can deliver up to 20 pages a minute (B&W) at 2400 dpi on plain paper, transparencies, postcards, and a wide range of other media.

For large format photo reproduction, check out the DesignJet 130 from HP. Delivering excellent, 24-inch wide dye-based prints, this $1,295 inkjet unit should make a good addition to the marketing arsenal of any rapidly growing company.

Go Multimedia

You can pack an office full of data into portable storage for instant access on the road. Windows-based PC software copy2go from CMS Products is available on the company's stylish 60 GB ($159) or 100 GB ($219) external drives. We were able to store dozens of large, media-rich presentations and movies on one of the small, high capacity drives. The simple copy2go program made it easy to quickly store, back-up, and retrieve presentations, digital photos, and other files. A standalone version of copy2go ($39) is available for use on other hard drives.

The 4 GB Kingston DataTraveler II Plus with Migo is a USB Flash drive with pre-loaded software that lets you carry your Windows desktop (including MS Outlook e-mail and addresses) in your pocket for instant use on a remote PC. The $150 USB drive also features auto-synchronization for a smooth landing back at the office.

Mobile presenters and road warriors are among the greatest beneficiaries of the revolution in portable multimedia devices.

HomeDock Deluxe from DLO ($150) enables iPod owners to enjoy their music, videos, or photo slideshows on a home, office, or hotel entertainment system. A wireless remote control with on-screen navigation makes it easy to locate and play the right music. Videos can be displayed at a respectable 640x480-pixel resolution.

The new Treo 700 from palmOne gives presenters a choice of operating systems, as well as phone, e-mail, music, and multimedia capabilities. The 700P works for Palm OS aficionados, and the 700W is perfect for fans of the proven Treo hardware who prefer Microsoft's Mobile PC workspace and applications. Units range in price from $300 to $400 when purchased with wireless service plans from Verizon or Sprint.
