Lehmann-Haupt bought a Ferrari when he was 25. "A red one, of course," he says. He began renting it out and used the profits to invest in a second performance car -- and the cycle continued. Five years later, Gotham Dream Cars boasts a fleet of 20 exotic rental cars, including names like Lamborghini, Maserati, and Bentley. The company offers personal car rentals, gift rentals, and a "DreamShare" program that gives members access to the whole fleet, among other services, and prides itself on owning all of its cars. Right now, the company services the Northeast and Miami, but has plans to expand across the country. Gotham Dream Cars ranked No. 275 on the 2008 Inc. 5000 list of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.
