Helping Kids Is the Ticket

Sometimes the best way to satisfy customers is to help them do something nice for someone else. The Orlando Magic professional basketball team gives season ticket holders the opportunity to donate unused tickets to disadvantaged youth. "Customers feel great about themselves and about our company, knowing that their unused tickets are providing opportunity for ill and underprivileged youth in the Orlando area," says Jamey Lutz, quality and customer-service specialist for the Orlando Magic management company.

The company--which also owns a minor-league hockey team, team sportswear retail stores, and a large sportsplex--works with three local organizations serving disadvantaged youth to distribute the tickets.

More than 250 tickets are donated each year. "These giveaways have made a lot of kids, employees, and customers happy" says Lutz. "The satisfaction customers derive from sending these kids to a game rivals that of experiencing the 'Magic' themselves."
