World's Cheapest Scoreboard
You say you don't have time or money to invest in creating a scoreboard? It doesn't take much of either. In one company, a unit manager makes a card each month and tapes a copy to each employee's workstation. On the card: monthly expenses, revenue to date, revenue needed to break even.
Colonel Glenn Executive Suites, with 3½ employees, created a tiny Lego construction, with blocks of one color representing the numbers in the annual plan and blocks of another color representing actual results to date. "It isn't fancy, but it works," says operations manager Celeste Kelsey.
