Increasing the number of links to your site over that of your competitors' will get you a bigger share of Web traffic -- and business. Here are five tips to help improve your site's link popularity.

  • Create links from industry portals. Get your site listed on industry-specific sites and portals such as trade association and trade publication sites.
  • Improve content. Add useful resources to your Web site including calculators, configurators, price comparers, and educational materials.
  • Build quality links. Request links from the sites that are popular on search engines. You will enjoy better results on most search engines if you have links from sites that are able to draw considerable traffic.
  • Develop reciprocal links. Consider exchanging links with popular sites that offer quality information and are relevant to your industry.
  • Establish links from Web directories. Submit your Web site to the most visited directories like Yahoo, LookSmart, About.com and Open Directory.
  • Remember, ubiquity creates brand trust!
