Catherine Rohr

Catherine Rohr is founder and CEO of Defy Ventures, a New York City-based entrepreneurship program and incubator for formerly incarcerated individuals. Defy harnesses the natural talents of former drug dealers and gang leaders--and redirects them toward the creation of profitable and legal business ventures. Since its founding in 2010, Defy has raised $2.5 million and engaged more than 1,000 executive volunteers who contributed 8,500 hours as business plan competition judges, mentors, and business coaches.
Before starting Defy, Rohr, who had a six-year career in private equity and venture capital, founded and led the Prison Entrepreneurship Program, a nonprofit organization that serves men throughout the Texas prison system.
