The Rules Of The Road

I am a "Road Warrior." I have spent nearly twenty-five years of my life conducting business on the road. I am a professional speaker, a corporate trainer, but that is irrelevant for the blogs I will be sharing with you. My real occupation is to survive and thrive on the road.

I do not claim to be a Road Warrior genius, but I am what I call, "methodically observant." That's because I might not be what some call a "Blogger" but I do take notes'¦ a lot of notes. I don't take a trip without taking notes, but I have always called my notes a "journal" and not a "blog." That's because I thought the only one reading them or learning from them would me be. The idea behind keeping a journal was not to just record events, but to learn from them.

You see, that's how I think people become wiser. It doesn't come from making mistakes or not making mistakes. I comes from being consciously aware of the mistakes you are making, the successes you are enjoying, and most importantly, the lesson's learned from each!

For a guy who has never blogged, I might be crazy, but I want to be a little selfish with the blogs you will be reading from me. Sure I'd like to try and tell you what I'm thinking, but I sure hope I can offer more. I'd like to try and leave you with a message - something that allows you to take something away from the short conversation I will be having with you.

So let's stay on this topic for my first blog. I've recorded over 1,200 pages over a dozen years being methodically observant. We all have a moment on two in the airport or on the plane. If you are a Road Warrior, you are carrying a laptop. Open it up, put your fingers on the keyboard, and write something. Maybe it will be two sentences, or maybe it will be two pages. Word count doesn't matter - becoming methodically observant, and taking a moment to record it and think about it does.

Oh, and maybe you'll have something to share with your significant others or even yourself some time down the road a bit that will allow you to reminisce about your days in the sun.
