Well, the first place to go to get likes and followers is your current customers. And so many businesses aren't leveraging all of their current communications assets. The truth is, you can leverage every single asset that you have all the way from your business cards to POS signage at the front of your store to emails, to phone calls. At the end of a customer service call, you can say, "Did you enjoy our service? Please leave a review on our Facebook page today."

00:49 Kerpen: The truth is, you've got lots of assets out there, and it's your job to communicate to your customers, to get them to like you and to tell them what's in it for them. Why should they like you? Are you providing them with unique content, special exclusive discounts? What's in it for them? Don't put the "Like" button at the very bottom of an email or at the very bottom of your website. Put it front in the center and tell customers what's in it for them, and you'll find your likes, your followers, your whole community will start growing.
