00:11 Dave Kerpen: One of the biggest complaints from small businesses that I get about social media is that they put content out there without getting any responses. Well, what I always say is, "Are you asking questions?" If social media is a conversation, then if you put content out there without asking a question, you're a lot less likely to get a response. If on the other hand, you actually ask questions on Facebook and Twitter, if you ask your audience something, well, they're gonna be much more inclined to actually answer you. And you can ask all kinds of great questions about your community, what they want to see, your products and services, how you could be doing better. Or just funny questions that inspire answers.

00:49 Kerpen: Let's take a look at examples from some of the leading brands in social media. So, Starbucks posted on Facebook, "My Refreshers treat at 2 PM, what's yours?", with this super engaging photo. This update got over 20,000 likes, almost 300 shares, and over 2000 comments. Why? Because it's a super simple question with an engaging photo, and it's really easy to answer. Home Depot on the other hand on Twitter asked "Depot Debate: We're curious, do our tweeps think the toilet paper should roll over or under?" Now, notice this has nothing to do with Home Depot, but it's a question that is sort of funny and it inspired hundreds of answers. I mean as soon as I see this, I think, well, obviously over. Ultimately, it's all about asking simple questions that make it really easy for your community to answer. And that way, you'll actually get some valuable engagement on Facebook and Twitter.
