Terry Cunningham is an entrepreneur’s entrepreneur. He’s proven his business mettle by building successful companies for over 30 years. He’s doing it again as CEO of Coral8, a pioneer in the emerging complex event processing (CEP) market. CEP is specialized analytical software that Gartner predicts two-thirds of enterprises will use by 2012.
To quickly own the CEP market, Cunningham established a “frictionless” business model characterized by free software downloads and channel-friendly business practices. Inventive developers can create next generation CEP applications using Coral8, without paying a dime until it goes into production. The Coral8 customer and partner channel is inundated with stories of developers becoming “rock-stars” by downloading the software and solving complex IT application problems swiftly.
Cunningham devised this “seed-the-market” business model in 1984 when he launched Crystal Decisions. Under his leadership, Crystal developed its flagship product, Crystal Reports, and strategically partnered with Microsoft and over 200 other OEM's to make Crystal Reports the world's number one reporting tool.
When Seagate acquired Crystal Decisions, 1994, Cunningham served as president of Seagate Software, where he executed 11 mergers/acquisitions in four years and brokered one of the largest software acquisitions that combined Seagate's Network and Storage Management Group with VERITAS Software.
