Go Daddy Launches Mobile Site Creator
Trying to expand your online presence to the mobile realm? Go Daddy, one of the largest website domain registration services, announced today that users can develop mobile website.
Go Daddy users can now create mobile versions of their existing websites or craft separate, mobile-exclusive sites, TechCrunch reported. You can also incorporate e-commerce capabilities into your site, which means you can conduct sales with customers directly from the mobile webpage.
"With today's launch of mobility within Website Builder, we're enabling our customers to instantly optimize their sites for the hundreds of millions of smart phone and tablet owners," Go Daddy President of Products and Technology Jason Rosenthal said in a statement.
Rosenthal told TechCrunch that Go Daddy would make the mobile-manufacturing process as seamless as possible.
"Our goal is to let a customer have a full-blown web and mobile site in a matter of hours. Someone could have an idea for a business Saturday night and have it 'mobile by Monday' using Website Builder," Go Daddy Product Manager Raj Nijjer said in a statement.
Mobile traffic is already increasing for Go Daddy websites. Rosenthal told TechCrunch that mobile visits to Go Daddy-hosted sites has spiked a massive 350% over the past two years. In fact, sites should receive more hits from mobile devices than desktop devices by 2014, according to a release from Go Daddy.
But those looking to host a shopping component will have to put down an additional payment. While the mobile development cost comes in three levels ($5.69, $8.54, and $12.74), e-commerce development comes at an additional staged fee ($9.99, $29.99, and $49.99).
"We’re hearing loud and clear that mobile is becoming a huge channel for our small and medium business customers, so we want to be there," Rosenthal added.
