Arianna Huffington knows what it takes to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

Like many entrepreneurs, the HuffPo founder has from time to time been forced to embrace the 24/7 work ethic. That lifestyle, however, is something she recently left behind. 

At Inc.'s Founders Forum, Huffington spoke with Young Entrepreneur Council founder Scott Gerber about how running on empty leads to bad decisions.

"The data is incontrovertible," she says. "I actually have 55 pages of scientific end notes about the importance of sleep for renewal and regeneration and mental clarity, [and] the importance of meditation or some form of quiet time."  

One way for business owners to both improve employee performance and reduce healthcare costs is to introduce stress reduction practices, such as yoga. Roughly 35 percent of midsize and large U.S. companies have found that doing so can have a positive impact on the bottom line, Huffington says.
