What it does: Identifies markets, plans media campaigns, and purchases advertising for clients that have included 1-800-Flowers, Wyeth, and Ruby Tuesday. For financial services firm TIAA-CREF, which had done mostly B2B marketing, it developed ideas for a national television campaign to create consumer awareness.

Why it's growing: Much growth has come from targeting midsize companies. While working for an advertising behemoth, CEO Steve Farella saw firsthand how midsize businesses got lost in the bigger shops. He says TargetCast will keep serving the smaller guys, although as the firm has grown, the big companies have come knocking.
