Focusing on flexibility, aerobics and weight training, Fitness Together crafts individual work-out programs for customers, allowing them to exercise in private with a personal trainer.

Why it's growing:
Going to the gym "has become a social event rather than a workout event" and that makes some people feel uncomfortable, says CEO Jeff Jervik. "Our clients can go into a studio all by themselves and work on a program that's created just for them." By opening 600 franchise locations nationwide, the company is expanding its business while still maintaining private programs for clients.

What's noteworthy:
Fitness Together recently launched a new spa division called Elements Therapeutic Massage. The group is slated to open 100 locations by the end of 2008.
