What it does:
Provides a range of business services to political campaigns and non-profit organizations, including direct marketing consulting, class action administration, data management and letter shop services, business communications, and list services.
Why it's growing:
CFO Alan R. Wichtoski says adding a claims division and expanding the laser printing division has not only helped retain customers--some of which have been with the company for more than 24 years--but also has helped attract new customers like class action attorneys.
What's noteworthy:
A.B. Data began as a company intended to serve Jewish organizations; as its client base expanded to include a variety of non-profits and political campaigns, its employees diversified and expanded, too. Wichtoski, who calls himself a conservative among liberals, says the staff consists of a healthy mix of both ideologies. "I'd do anything for them except vote for them," he says.
