Billionaire venture capitalist Peter Thiel is reportedly in talks with online room rental service Airbnb about investing $150 million in the company, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The investment would value the company at $2.5 billion.
Whether or not the investment would be made by Thiel personally or through Founders Fund, the venture capital firm he co-founded, is not known at this time.
Founders Fund did not return a request for comment at time of press.
Venture capital firms Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital--current Airbnb stakeholders--are also expected to be involved in the fundraising round.
Founded in 2008, Airbnb is a Y Combinator alum that has raised $120 million in financing to date, the Journal says.
Based in San Francisco, the company operates an online marketplace that allow users to rent--or rent out--spare rooms and couches.
