  • Did you name your lemonade stand? If yes, please let us know what you called it. If not, please go on to the next question.

My brother and sister and I called it "the pink drink stand" to ourselves, but the sign said "PINK LEMONADE" We almost called it "Nancy Ann's" since we were honoring a Granma. We thought we'd keep it simple.

  • How did you build your lemonade stand? (Don't forget to let us know what materials you used and how you came up with the idea!)

We wanted to catch the attention of everyone driving by, so we made a GIANT glass of pink lemonade. We built the design out of light weight foam core so we could tranport it easily. Then we attached it to a sturdy table and some extra Ikea shelving. It was kind of like a theater set with light artwork and a lot of backstage tape. We chose Pink Lemondade because we gave a portion of our proceeds to Breast Cancer in honor of our Grandmother's (who survived it) 75th birthday.

  • What does your lemonade stand look like? (Describe what it looks like and why you designed it the way you did, talking about the size of your stand and any extra special signs you created to promote it!)

Think pink! It looks like a booth made from a white table w/wood on one side that supports a large sign that says "Fresh Squeezed Pink Lemonade" The other side is a giant glass of pink lemonade w/a straw. A smaller sign describes where a portion of proceeds are going. A white tablecloth hides our supplies. We made matching signs to post at a busy corner and hold up as we chanted cheers. We used pink balloons and a big pink Breast Cancer ribbon. We all wore pink shirts and played the the theme to the Pink Pather.

  • How did you choose the lemonade recipe and how did you make your lemonade?

We wanted to use real lemons since we were charging 75 cents a glass. We looked up lots of recipes and decided to use one with a "simple syrup" (sugar and water cooked on the stove) so the sugar wouldn't sink to the bottom. We started with some recipes, but then just tested it until it was perfect. To make it pink, we added food coloring. We thought about adding cranberry juice, but we decided it might make it taste like cranberries. We also microwaved the lemons to make them easier to squeeze to save time (time is money!)

  • How much money did you make this weekend?

$56! We charged 75 cents a glass hoping that people would say "keep the change" when they gave us a dollar. It worked! We also made tiny pink cupcakes that we sold for 25 cents. So, either way we got at least a dollar form almost everyone. People were really nice. Almost everyone tipped. We made little coupons that we handed out at the park across the street. One woman gave us $5 and didn't even buy anything!

I liked some of the ideas that were different from the others that were already on the site and it was good because most kids don't sell pink lemonade.

Your stand is so cute, and what a great reason to have one!

Brianna - Connecticut

Siena, I rated your story a 8, because I thought that it was very kind to donate the money to Cancer. But, no offense, I thought that you had the price a bit too high. At most lemonade stands, lemonade costs $.25, so people could have bought 3 glasses of lemonade instead of one. But overall, you have the best story that I have saw so far! Rock on dude!

Casey - Columbia, MO

you are going to be a millionaire some day. ignore all the things that say "cute" or "how adoreable" or whatever like that. i think your idea really is awesome and obviously it works!

Maria Contratto - Seattle, WA

Who could resist the cheers, signs and theme song!?! The kids' matching shirts and rosy enthusiasm was irresistable. They brought traffic to a stop!

Absolutely inspirational! Way to support both their grandmother and breast cancer.

Heather - Sparta, NJ

I can believe that they would buy, because you made it so people would think that you put a lot of work into it, and you did! I was reading this because I'm going to sell lemonade, and I wanted to learn from the best!

chris - Andover, Ct

Really Neat. I like the ones that look a little more done by the child rather then the parent though!

Cathy - Lafayette, New Jersey

Love the theme and playing music in the background. Always wondered about the psychology behind different kinds of music and which is best to play for shoppers, or which type leads to impulse buying, etc.

-

Great way to make the profit....hoping they'll say keep the change. And they were right.

Katie - Chicago, Illinois

I am going to be participating in the Breast Cancer 3-day walk and need to raise a lot of money... your lemonade stand has really got me thinking about alternate ways to bring in some money. Way to go and good luck!

Looks like parents made this stand, not kids.

The lemonade was sold at such a high price! Sell the lemonade for $.25 or $.50 at the most.

Now that's taking the old fashioned lemonade stand to a new level! Tying in a fantastic charity and honoring your grandmother at the same is both honorable and inspirational. You are great role models!

In today's 'ME' society, it is so great to see children, especially family coming together not only to celebrate Grandma's 75th Birthday, but also to raise money for a global cause such as Breast Cancer!!! Great Job, great lemonade stand and Great Kids!!! P.S. 75 cents sounds good to me :)

Emilee Sobotta - seattle, washington

BTW don't listen to people who say that the parents made the stand!!!! They don't realize that your brother when he was in 4th grade helped me with my science project for a junior high!! And that you are the best artist I have ever seen! I keep one of the pictures you drew on my bulletin board and people still can't believe you drew it!! Also don't listen if they say the price is too high...75 cents in honor of your grandma's 75th birthday is soooo clever! And you donated it all so it was better!I <3 <3 <3 you!
